Rose Cottage
The initial client brief was to extend and re-model this Gower Cottage just outside Rhossili at the far end of Gower, however despite various attempts the concept of adding to the host dwelling were resistent by the Planning Department. Instead, the design for a modern vernacular replacement two-storey detached dwelling was deemed acceptable. Referencing overall scale, form and materials of buildings in the vicinity, the new Rose Cottage has a balanced composition of traditional sliding sash windows to the front and a combination of stone and timber clad walls and render finish, with a more contemporary approach to the rear and side elevations.
